Health Condition or Problem Studied:
Asthma with obesity
Study Design:
WRAPT is an interventional clinical trial of an investigational medicinal product: a phase IIb, randomised, placebo-controlled, two arm parallel group, double-blind, multicentre clinical trial. Randomisation will be generated by a secure web-based system on a 1:1 basis with stratification for recruiting location and type II inflammation (Y/N).
ACTIVE ARM:
Tirzepatide 15mg subcutaneous injection once weekly for 32 weeks following a dose up-titration from 2.5mg weekly every four weeks over a 20-week duration.
Or
CONTROL ARM:
Control saline injection, which appears identical to tirzepatide, once weekly.
Both groups will receive individual counselling every 4 weeks for the duration of the study, this will include dietary support and encouragement to increase their physical activity to 150 minutes of moderate activity (such as walking) per week.
